Software for HP54601 Serial Interface?

We've re-surfaced old code that came from HP for the serial interface
module on our HP54601A scope but it does not appear to run under
W95.... The old Compaq-286 laptop that used to do this job (but has
been resting peacefully for some years) ate it's disk when we turned it
on.....

Details:
The scope (HP54601A) is running version 2.3 firmware
The serial (RS-232) interface module (HP54651A) is running version
2.0 firmware.

The versions of HP's ScopeLink that don't work are 2.0 and 2.1. Each
of them fails to recognize and/or communicate with the scope. However,
if we use a terminal emulator, we can poke in commands and the scope
will emit data which makes sense.

So:
Surely someone before me ran into this problem and wrote some code
that they are willing to share?
