I sell a kit that does just what you want. However you could build one
yourself from the schematic available through my web site at
http://www.aade.com
link through Digital Freq Display.

If you need just the microprocesser I can make a price for just that to
help you out.

The simplest I know was on an article on the Nov. '94 issue of
Popular Elctronics. It's a microcontroller-based frequency counter with a
50MHz range (and it's auto-ranging, too!). The only problem is if the
supplier has no more preprogrammed uControllers to sell, you have to find
someone to program the Microchip Tecnologies PIC 16C54 for you. The
source code is on the gersnback ftp (www.gernsback.com).
As for parts count it's only two ICs, two transistors and one LCD
module (16x1).

Good luck!
