Digital Picture Frame

[Night Light Design Works]

Has anyone had success making a digital picture frame like the one below but
with pc parts and maybe a usb port?

Obtain laptop.
Remove case, hope the cables are long enough, put the screen on the back
of the laptop.
Make a nice wooden case.

In the UK at least go to any major electrical goods retailer and buy one.
As an added bonus they can also display live TV

The only reason that they use a laptop is size, weight, and the fact that
it obviously has a built-in screen. can u imagine getting the huge
motherboard, and worst of all a switching supply into a frame, It would rip
the studs out of the wall it was hung on.
I have made many of these laptop units for a wall display at a company that
I worked for.

In otherwords you want to make a remote LCD screen from a laptop.

I would prefer to have my pictures high quality printed and do it the
old fashioned way.

Or get an older PC or older laptop that can display the pictures, and
use a remote desktop type LCD panel that is wall or desk mounted.
This will also be much higher quality than the ones from the laptops.
There are many great deals on the older 160 to 200 mHz laptops. I
would use the rear external mon connector and use this with the
external LCD panel. A mask can be fitted to the panel.

Maybe my method is probably more expensive if all has to be purchased,
but I think the overall quality level will be higher.

For now I will keep photo printing my digital pictures, and framing
them the old fashoned way. This way I don't need a computer running
to have pictures on my wall. Yes... I know that the picture is
fixed, and will not have the same debt in its look.

I myself never thought of this...
