LCB - Linear Current Booster -- any reference designs ?

Could some electronics guru please clarify the difference
between a linear current booster (LCB) and a buck converter ?
Also is there any reference design around ? Googling the
topic has not been too helpful.

I don't think I've even heard the term. Where'd you hear it, and what's
it supposed to do?

I was curious so I googled it, it does seem that it is basically
a buck converter, used to step down the voltage from solar cells
so that when running a pump with solar and the sun is low it'll still
have enough current to run the pump slow in stead of stalling
