OTOH the mess the US auto industry is in can perhaps be improved by some better
things, like thinking out of the box, just to get competitive again.

A more fuel efficient car would run further on a standard tank of liquid gas for example.

Simple - just fire the unions and hire any of the 10,000,000 scabs waiting
