He is already at the desktop, idiot. The "safe mode" boot up option only steps through the items which get loaded BEFORE the desktop GUI login appears. "Paring out services" is also bad because many of them are about keeping folks from getting at your machine. Oh boy... you got some memory back! Wow. If your box is running that fucking slowly, your lost time is worth the price of a cheap, new, fast box. Jeez, they are well under $500 now! Stop crying and go BUY a NEW machine! Even the damned $300 Acer Aspire Atom engined 8 inch square computers would run circles around old gear for those folks so STUBBORN they haven't bought a new computer in 12 years.
