The rogue republican is using rouge but the shirt is red.
I've never heard anyone say "the soddering iron" in over 45 years of
soldering in the US. BTW, I started at eight years old.

The movie 'Deliverance' isn't a documentary!
I've never heard it called "soddering iron" either.
But I have to say, with the new breed of idiot children we're
graduating these days, all bets are off!

Has _anyone_ ever heard it pronounced with the "ell"?

I've been to the "continent" multiple times, but never to the UK.
Yep.
I've been to the UK and never heard the word solder pronounced. :)
I must have been hanging about with the wrong people.
Why are they "on" the UK and not "in" the UK? I suppose it's an
exclusive club, being in the UK and one must know the secret handshake
and password before one is accepted for membership. Until one is
accepted, one is merely on the UK as it were, riding a boat.
In N.A.: solder, rhymes with odder.
In U.K.: solder, rhymes with alder or maybe more like older.
In North America we pronounce it sodder but we only do it to annoy the
imperials. :)

Just residual delusions that the "British Empire" still exists ;-)
Not that I should laugh... Obama is effectively neutering us to match

True, the correct pronunciation is 'sodderin' iron... ;-)
Charlie
To annoy Americans?
More like, sodderin' aern, as in "Hey bubba, you usin' 'at there
sodderin' aern?"
I've never met a redneck who could solder. They preferred a cutting
torch.
I've heard a few 'knuckle draggers' call them 'slobberen arns'. They
they would scream after picking up the wrong end.

"arn" is the correct pronunciation ;-)
I did that wrong-end stunt exactly once... taught me to always look up
(from my OptiVisors) rather than just reaching blindly :-(
Amazing how fast one can react from the "ssssst" heard before the pain
registers ;-)
Only because some eejit designed the keyboard with the 'o' next to the
'i'!

Think what you want.... the publisher has just knocked out an
additional 1 Million copies.
From what I hear the publisher had already reached profitability in
the first release... sold out before availability ;-)
I'm doing process corner simulations for a chip due to release to
layout on December 1.
Not much to see, looking at me.
If you have GoToMeeting, and wish to pay, you could see my other
screens ;-)
How about, "Jim shows us the tricks to making a 35mW, 3.3V, 1GHz GBW op-amp
using commodity transistors like the BFS17. Then he changes over to TSMC BJTs
to obtain 3GHz out of the same design..."
What was the name of your #1 best seller?
Its classified.

Due to recent budget cuts, the light at the end of the tunnel has
temporarily been turned off.
Think of it as just another tax break for the wealthy. :-)
True story: When the 9/11 Commission Report was published, our local
bookstore had some of the overstock (high on the shelves) positioned
right above the "fiction" sign. It's the bookstore right across from
the university, so I never knew if it was a prank, or if the employees
(mostly students) just didn't pay any attention...
And left fingerprints in molten tin on the can.
No, it's bullshit. No #1 seller was ever classified.
I'd suggest you would find it very rare for an American not to pronounce it
sodder.
Now, back to my regular skej-ool. ( not shej-ool ) :-)

Thompson, you're fugly. If you are under 70, life has beat you up pretty
hard. Try to stay out of the sun.
Babe? Smart? Well I'd have to say that Palin is very similar to Carrie
Prejean in both beauty and intelligence. If Glennbeck isn't available
for a partner in 2012, I suggest Sarah should look into teaming up with
Prejean. Two good looking, "smart" women should be better than one.
If you are dense enough to think this is a "book" worth reading, then
perhaps you should also look for the Prejean videos. The intellectual
and entertainment levels should be about the same. Perhaps a little
higher for the videos.
