If someone at the IRS saw some group that believed and openly stated,
"taxation is theft" it may be reasonable to believe the people in that
group _might_ have a higher rates of lying and cheating on taxes.
So the IRS should audit them more _over a trial period of time_ to
determine 2 things.
Are they in fact cheating on taxes more than other groups and more
important, does it bring in more money to audit them more than others?
If they are looneytarians they may very well be cheating at a higher
rate but, that doesn't necessarily mean they should be audited more.
Maybe looneytarians generally don't have much money and/or their
income is mostly from cash only operations so it could very well be a
waste of time to audit "taxation is theft" wingers.
In that case the IRS shouldn't waste money aditing looneytarians and
start looking at other groups. The only goal of the IRS is to bring
in money.
A traffic cop is supposed to be improving highway safety as well as
bringing in revenue.
