This is a very big challenge if anyone wants to
take it on.

Thanks everyone for your wonderful ideas, but
I do want to mention now (since I forgot to
do it earlier) that my intention is to save
my own work and not to send messages, so what
I need is basically carrier material that is
available on demand (or close to it), and that
saving it on my disk for use later would not be
acceptable because then Doug the Duresser would
see two slightly different versions of the
background material, one with the stego and one
without. the idea of recording the Voice of
America radio program would work, if I was
willing to let my stuff sit around in RAM until
it came on.
there is a small problem with this. You see I
intend to use something which I call a "Panic
Button". This would wipe out my Ram if A) I press
it or B) some other event occurs which indicates
a probable break-in is underway. If I rely on the
voice of America idea, I will loose all my work
if the Panic Button is pressed before the VOA
comes on. THis might make me hesitant to press the
button if I need to. So what I really need is
something that is produced often and easily,
in large quantities and without much effort,
but only if I need it, and it does not look
unusual if it is stored at random intervals.
Also it must be produced (I think)
only from an analog source ( a digital source
could be traced and it would be apparent that
stego had altered it).

I told you it was a big challenge!
Nobody ever said life would be easy!

u know who

Why not erase (securely wipe) the original?

Why not pre-record it?

If my return address contains "ZAP." please remove it. Sorry for the
inconvenience but the unsolicited email is getting out of control.

How about storing data on unallocated hard disk space.
(you have to be very careful about how you do this or else you just
invented Write-only memory (: )
you could byte-split the file between several locations so if somone
scans the disk for data structures thay find just junk.
(no one will be suprised if it ISN'T RANDOM junk because thats what
you usualy find on unused disk space - just make shure thay have a
hard time figuring out what went where)
