There are few words I give credit to in cryptology and even some of those may be discarded in the future as they are made redundant by advances that appear in the years ahead.
“Symmetric Encryption.”
“Stream Cipher.”
“Number-Theoretic”.
“Complexity Theoretic.”
These salient words are here to stay I think in current cryptology.
I am adding the following additional words to my personal nomenclature,
“Scalar” – meaning that scalar data is used as the raw encryption data.
“Vector” – meaning that vector data is used as the raw encryption data.
“Isochronous” – meaning ciphertext that occurs once only i.e. the separate items of the larger string of ciphertext having a frequency of just one (1).
The latter two types of cryptology merit being called distinctive “class” types in my view with appropriate dignity.
It is worth noting that all of these new research discussion points evolved right here in “sci crypt” and were often unconsciously aided by many readers’ own contributions.
“Stormy but never dull” could be ascribed to some of the many exchanges.
