Trouble at the food court

I had some trouble at the food court in the local supermarket today. A few
years ago a couple of guys showed up who didn't eat anything at all but
just took up an otherwise empty seat and chatted. They weren't
particularly loud, they didn't stop anyone else from eating and I could
just tune them out. But they weren't even chatting about something I could
recognise as 'food'. They shouldn't be there.

This happened for a long time. Then other people began to join in. Always
going over and over the same points. After years of this miss-use of the
publicly available facility, these pricks had never stopped their stupid
conversations and used the food court for what is was supposed to be for.
I snapped, and picked up a chair and smashed it over the ring leader while
yelling at all of them to STFU.

And can you believe it: not only am I not a hero - I'm the one in trouble!

Who might the others be then in his allegory and why does he have to talk in parables like this while he is openly ranting and raving on posts to the group.

Being an allegory and having identified the ring leader who has had a chair smashed over his head there are still these 'other pelple' who have pitched up who seem to have some significance in his allegory.

Allegory. I'm glad you found the behavior inappropriate. There is an
actual food court where I like to check my mail and read...so I am rather
glad no one does what I said.

Back to allegory. I am hoping to mitigate and if possible repair some of
the social damage caused by O'brian in this newsgroup by taking the same
situation and putting it into a different context (you already knew that).

Some people have become angry/distracted/upset that others are still
trying to show AO that his cryptography is crap long after they have given
up. It's simply not appropriate to put any aspect of your peace of mind /
happiness in the hands of others. They have different values,
motivations,ideas of entertainment, time pressures and just about
everything else. It is an unreasonable expectation that everyone should
fulfill your rules especially when everyones rules are different!
Getting agro about is is as sensible as losing it in a food court because
someone is talking or getting upset because not everyone is using a knife
and fork.

If you are getting upset by posts to a news group that you don't have to
read you have something else you should be working on - especially
considering most people believe in freedom of speech. Or is that freedom
of speech only if I agree with you?

Even daily posting of AO rubbish into a news group is not like a DoS
attack - we don't get our newsgroup feed from the teleprinter. Just read
the header or who it is from and if it is of no interest move on and don't
think about it again. No need for any more consideration than that.
