I think I may have inadvertantly created a new plastic...
The plastic is soluble in water and other polar solvents, but only
between temperatures of 62-74 degrees celcius. it dissolves completely
and does not discolour the water, but when the water evaporates the
plastic (if allowed) springs back to its original moulded shape! The
plastic itself is extremely rigid but is still quite flexible (almost
as much as glass fibre) and a 2mm thick, 300mm long sheet of it can
support the weight of my little sister (around 45kgs) The plastic is
thermo-setting but at time of production can be moulded into just about
any shape!

One experiment I performed was to mould a hollow cube around 100mm -
100mm - 100mm and inside I placed a small toy and shut the box. I then
placed the box in a large container full of warm water and increased
the temperature until the box disappeared and I removed the toy. I
then boiled off the water and was left with my box! The only
difference was that the vertices were smoothed rather than rough (I'm
not very good at moulding yet) I have looked for this plastic on the
net and asked my Chemistry Lecturer but I cant find any instances of
it. Can anyone tell me whether it has already been created or have I
stumbled apon something amazing???

We can't tell you much without the composition. If you think you have
something great, consider filing for patent protection. After you are
protected, then consider asking folks more about it. There are a few folks
on this group who could probably duplicate your material with very little
compositional information. If they are able to do it, then you are pretty
much out of luck.

A preliminary patent is about $75, and offers some protection for a year.
It should be followed with a full patent application. See your patent
attorney.

Some of your claims below are not making sense. If something dissolves
completely, then it will lose its original shape. It is not likely to
spring back into anything. You may have hydrated it and changed its
refractive index, making it invisible in water, and it might have melted a
bit softening the edges, but it didn't dissolve completely. If you can
legitimately violate these statements, then you are well on the way to being
able to patent something.

If what you say is true you have invented the ultimate Houdini box.

I find it impossible to believe that an object enclosed on 6 sides by
a box of the "magic" plastic can be removed without the box being
severly put out of shape; whatever the mechanism of the water-plastic
interaction.

No, it hasn't already been done. And, yes, it is amazing. And there are lots
of applications out there
if your experiments are reproducible.

Once you dissolve something into a complete dissolution, there is no
way in hell that you get it back into original shape by evaporation.
(Unless it is a crystal.) It is like putting fishtank into a blender
and then claiming that you can turn your soup back to fishes again.

Shades of homeopathy! The water has a memory of the shape it dissolves.

If you put your fish in a Taylor-Couette apparatus,
maybe you could get them back.

Umm, well thats why i'm so excited! Because it does seem to have a
"memory" and springs back to whatever shape it was moulded in to begin
with. I have found that if I dissolve it in ammonia then it seems to
lose some of its original shape but in water it is perfect!! I really
have no idea what is going on... :(
There is no way that the refractive index changes because i can stir
the liquid and there are no hard objects to be found.
And as to your offer of "buying a sample" I dont think that I will be
doing that quite yet, once I have finished my testing of the plastic,
and have patented it then I will be looking for investors, for capital
to start production.

Do I recall that fullerenes have this kind of property - i.e. you can
dissolve them (in carbon disulphide?) and they recrystallise out as
fullerenes.
