Position available: Mass spectromist for small molecule methods development

Certified Laboratories is an essentially full-service contract
laboratory providing analytical services to the food industry. We have
LC/MS-MS systems and an Agilent GC/MSD and are interested in getting a
GC/MS-MS system. As a company we are inclined to take on analytical
challenges.
We are looking for a mass spectrometrist whose primary responsibility
will be to develop, validate and transfer analytical methods for small
molecules in food matrices.
Our ideal candidate will be someone with a Master's degree in
chemistry or some suitably relevant area, a good understanding of
chemistry and the mass spectrometry of small molecules in an
analytical contest (LC/MS-MS, GC/MS (single quad) and GC/MS-MS),
reasonable understanding of chromatography and demonstrated ability to
develop mass spectrometric methodology. Broad familiarity of
analytical chemsitry is presumed. Specific knowledge of food analysis
would be a plus but is not required.
We are open to candidates with higher degrees.
The primary focus is on detection and quantitation of contaminants and
micronutrients in foods at low levels (close to LOQ). Analytes include
pesticides, non-permitted drugs, vitamins and other analytes where
these technologies are of interest. Given our range of sample types,
it is reasonable to expect some of the work to be quite challenging.
The work will include participation in routine/production analysis as
needed but the primary responsibility will be methods development,
validation and transfer. "Transfer" will include assisting in the
training of relevant analytical personnel.
