Compositional Information
(Break from the discussion on Catabolic/anabolic) While reading a paper about OOL, I noticed the term 'compositional information'. But what information is being replicated at the start of life? I contend that most writers seem to think chemicals want to reproduce, make protein, and get to us. I think all that is a type of life... more »

New Year Day Fun - AI - 2 part command language
Artificial Intelligence - 2 Decisions. This post is just for fun, though it does tie in with my ideas on the catabolic/anabolic dichotomy. There may be a simple approach to artificial intelligence that is similar to that used by living things. Most all reactions of an artificial intelligence or AI could come from a command with two major... more »

When Did Telemeres Start Limiting Somatic Cell Growth?
Telemeres are at the end of chromosomes in the somatic cells of all (?) animals that shed a small tip at each mitosis. When the cell runs out of telemeres, it no longer can divide. Telemeres are implicated in senescence. On the other hand, they also prevent widespread cancer. It seems to me that this limit on cell growth must have been a... more »

...JE:- Hi William, Then equally and oppositely, you also find difficulty in finding anybody who holds to Haldane and Hamilton's and therefore Dawkins' Neo Darwinistic view? This is because selfish geneism remains incompatible with functional junk DNA. ...JE:- Ok, then what exactly is the proposed Neo Darwinistic fitness... more »

Two More Points
Two more points to consider: 1. Response to the argument that catabolic and anabolic did NOT evolve separately. IF catabolic and anabolic did not evolve separately, that means they evolved together. That means that every positive mutation on the catabolic side instantly produced a matching positive mutation on the... more »

How did protosomes and deuterosomes differentiate?
How did protosomes and deuterosomes differentiate? Bilateral animals are divided into protosomes and deuterostomes. The defining difference between them is in the eventual fate of the large dimple that forms on the embryo during gastrulation. In protosomes, the large dimple becomes a mouth (i.e., marks the anterior... more »
