I hear this is supposed to be a great new little gem with a high, low noise

I have not tried it but I understand it has problems unrelated to
performance. No cable release. Forced dark frame above 30 seconds.

Like many other current DSLRs, it supports 'cable release' via IR
remote, or a cable to its USB port. Commercial examples of both are
readily available, as are many DIY examples.
