Many years ago, I got together for several observing sessions with someone
whom at that time posted regularly in sci.astro.amateur as he lived only
about 10 miles from me. Later, somebody else who lived only about 6 miles
away showed up in sci.astro.amateur seeking help with the collimation of an
Orion dobsonian. I drove to his house and showed him how easy the *scary*
process could be. I am quite satisfied with meeting these two individuals
through this Usenet group.

Question: Have you arranged a rendezvous with a fellow denizen of this
place and, if so, how did it turn out?

Yes. I bought my secondhand LX200 10" from a one time UK regular on this
group a long while ago and met denizens of this and more often
uk.sci.astronomy at events like AstroFest as well as a few locally.

Being tall helps. I am easy to spot in a crowd!
