I am new to astronomy

years of not trolling anymore I am back. Well not really. I am too
busy to troll. I did see the 10 year anniversary post of my famous and
highly insightful post on say no to refractors. I am so proud that you
all remember me as it brings back such warm feelings.
I think that the 10 of you that are still following this user group
would be interested in how I have been the past several years. I have
a new job. I work at adult super store now. I really enjoy my job. It
brings such pleasure helping people with their love life. As you all
know I am very knowledgeable and experienced in that area.

Still am. Past few years I went to Alaska, Colorado and California. I
just got back from Cali this summer. Went to lick observatory. Got a
picture of me licking lick.

I just recently took notice of the fact that the typical refractor in
the old days was f/15, and came across a web site noting that an
achromatic refractor at f/15, if its aperture was no more than 3",
provides color correction as good as an apochromat - and even at 6",
is quite satisfactory.
It is still true that a reflecting telescope - or even a catadioptric,
if you want to pay more for compact convenience, and are uncomfortable
with an open tube - costs less per inch than a refractor.
But can we reject refractors at all sizes? If so, why do Newtonians
and Schmidt-Cassegrains and just about every other kind of telescope
have refractors as their finderscopes? And the only kind of telescope,
other than a refractor, without central obstruction is an off-axis
telescope.
So, if you want the highest possible contrast, and do not trust the
optical performance of a strange, unusual off-axis design... that is
the reason for using a refractor. And if you have a use for an
aperture 2" or less, refractors are also appropriate.

refractor, off-axis, f/15 and crap like that? I take it you are
typical of this user group and a geek thus easily trolled. Let’s break

I am not back just here for a visit. How long has it been since I have
trolled here? 6 or 7 years. I am just here to say hi to everyone.
I was just telling my wife to be yes I am getting married about my
trolling. So I did a search on past trolls and saw a re-post
celebrating the 10 year anniversary of say no to refractors. Needless
to say she has something called a sense of humor and likes the trolls.
Yes have Windows 7 and love it. I had Vista to and loved it as well.

I am using Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 and after a tweak or two here
and there, find it just superb. I see no reason to throw away money on an
upgrade to Windows 7 - which as I understand it is not much more than a
fully-tweaked version of Vista.

Well, it is true that geeks with poor eyesight are likely to choose
another hobby instead of amateur astronomy.

It did seem that in that line of employment, you would be dealing
mostly with people who didn't have a love life, rather than helping
people with their love lives.
