Olmec and Mezcala Artifacts Found in Guerrero
INAH has found Mezcala figurines dating to 700 CE and Olmec and Pre-Olmec pottery going back to 1200 BCE and skeletal remains in a cave in Guerrero. Ritual activity related to burning incense was also uncovered. The cave was first occupied by Olmec related people at 1200 BCE, and then by the Mezcala at 700 CE. The skeletons appear to be from the Olmec occupation.
