Listeros,

Through the use of state of the art technology, specialists from
Mexico, Italy and the US are analyzing the paint used in Mexica
sculptures like the Sun Stone and the sculptures of Coyolxauqui and
Tlatecuhtli. They have determined the paint was polychrome of 5
colors; red, ochre, blue, white and black. Red and ochre paints have
been detected in the Sun Stone. The Coyolxauhqui monolith has evidence
of red, ochre, blue, white and black paints.

Results of these studies are to be published in Arqueologia Mexicana
magazine and in
"Monte Sagrado-Templo Mayor (Sacred Mount-Main Temple)" written with
Alfredo Lopez Austin, and "Escultura Monumental Mexica (Monumental
Mexica Sculpture)," written with Eduardo Matos Moctezuma.
