INAH has uncovered 50 skulls at a sacrificial stone area in the Templo
Mayor site in downtown Mexico City. Holes were drilled through 5 skulls
indicating these skulls were hung on a skull rack or tzompantli. The
rest of the skulls were dumped on top of the sacrificial stone. Given
the fact the skulls were found on and under a sacrificial stone gives
credence to an idea that heart sacrifice and decapitation were part of
the same ritual ceremonies.
