3000 BCE temple uncovered in Peru

Peruvian archaeologists have uncovered a temple at the site of El
Paraiso, near Lima.
El Paraiso was built at 3000 BCE. The new temple was accessible through
a narrow passage. A hearth was in the center for burning offerings. The
main characteristic of their religion was the use of fire. The temple is
in the right wing of the main pyramid. The temple was found during
conservation work. The walls are of stone that had been covered in
yellow clay. There are traces of red paint on it. The Late Pre-Ceramic
Age (3500 BCE-1800 BCE) turns out to be one of more connectedness than
previously thought. And the Lima area looks to be a center for
developing civilization in the Andean world. If the 3000 BCE date is
confirmed, this temple may be among the oldest in the world.
