I forget how many times I have seen a repeat of this TV show but each
time seems to bring out new insights.
To those that have watched this show it starts with Svante Paabo of
Max
Planck Institute inspecting the mitochondrial DNA of a Neanderthal
and
noting that all present day humans differ by 8 mutations whereas the
DNA
of Neanderthal differs by 26 mutations leading to the conclusion
that
Neanderthal was a different species.

Funny how my memory has deceived me. I remember
NOVA saying something about disparity or differences
of 3 times. But I did not remember of 26 mutations versus 8 mutations
for the 3X. So is my memory going
bad on me, or was there a different criteria in the NOVA
programs on Neanderthals on Trial in the years of
2002 to 2009?
