Alright Ladies and Gentlemen,
Perfect shooting weather on the horizon and I smell a classifier match
brewing.
This Saturday, we are hosting our first classifier match of the
season. For those of you unfamiliar with a classifier match, it is a
test of basic IDPA skills to determine your classification in the
division that you shoot. Each IDPA member (except the big shot Master
shooters) are required to shoot a classifier each year in each
division that they wish to shoot. This helps to make sure that we are
all shooting against folks of our similar skill level. I know quite a
few of you folks need to get classified.
The course of fire for the classifier can be found at
www.idpa.com.
It is a 90 round limited course of fire and your concealment garment
is NOT required. (Though it might be a bit chilly in the morning so
bring a jacket unless you're a walking heater. I hear it might be in
the upper 50's but warming to the upper 70's. - Did I say perfect
shooting weather? - Yes, I think I did.)
Registration opens at 9am. New shooters orientation starts at 9:30am
(please arrive early so you can complete your paperwork and report to
the bay for orientation on time). Shooting should start around 10am.
I generally estimate that we should be done by 1 to 1:30pm or sooner.
Match fees are $18 for non-Silvercreek members and $15 for Silvercreek
members. You may shoot with us once before needing to join IDPA. If
you would like to join IDPA, we will have the forms at the match.
Annual dues for IDPA is $40 and can be paid at the match, too. You
can join the same day that you shoot the classifier. Non-IDPA members
can shoot the classifier, but they will not get credit for the
classifier if they join at a later date. We do host another classifer
match in October, so this is not your last chance.
Great way to spend a beautiful Saturday morning. Bring your friends,
your neighbors, your guys and your gals. Please contact me if you
wish to volunteer to be an SO. Remember, SOs shoot for free (They
earn it folks. Trust me.)
God is great and guns are good! We can give thanks to both for our
protection and food.
See you all there.
