Have ppts, see enabled computers, but still can't connect

Hi all,
I have installed the trial version, and copied some ppts to my Droid,
and I have installed the Max4G player part on the PCs on my wireless
network. My Droid sees the installations on the two PCs, but when I
select one to use, I get the following message:

"To display the presentation pitchR must connect to a PC running the
max4G player software. If player is running on a nearby PC click OK to
connect"

I have no firewalls turned on anywhere, and my PCs are running XP sp3.

I love the concept - if I can make it work I will buy it!

Hi J,
So, did you click on the OK button? That will do a broadcast search on
your LAN, to find Player running on the other PC.
When you say your Droid sees the installations, I assume that means
you've clicked OK, it did the broadcast and heard from the 2 PCs.
Then, you should be able to select one. What happens next?

Thanks Mikea,
yes, I start the app and get the "Thumbnails Needed" message, and I
click OK, it then finds the two installs on network machines, and lets
me select one of them.

Whichever one I select I get the Network Problem message - [I'm sorry
I messed up my initial post about this] tthe message says "Wifi
network MMGIS [phone = 192.168.1.152] cannot reach address
192.168.1.102. You can use the phone Wi-Fi settings to connect to a
different network, or enter a different IP address for the player."

The phone IP is indeed what the message claims, and the machine I am
trying to connnect to really is at 192.168.1.102. I have tried
changing the IPs to no avail.

That error, "Unreachable Address", sometimes means that your subnet
mask
doesn't match the addresses your router is assigning - not likely,
but possible. And if you've tried different addresses, you've
probably
eliminated that possibility. On your PC, the cmd "ipconfig /all"
should
show subnet mask = 255.255.255.0 or 255.255.0.0

The fact that your phone sees the PCs indicates that some packets are
being
routed back and forth, although as a broadcast, the phone is using a
different address.
To try the connection a different way, you might
use the Settings menu to enter the IP address of one of your PCs on
the phone.

(I'm scratching my head, sorry!) You've confirmed that the IP
addresses
are right, and MMGIS is your WiFi. You could try a different app that
opens a TCP connection to one of your PCs;
if you're running a web server on one of your PCs you might try
browsing
to it. (I doubt it will work, if the network stack on your phone is
reporting Address Unreachable, it should report the same results to
all apps.)

(I've been trying not to say this) Another thing to try is reboot your
phone...
maybe the network just needs to be reset.

Dear Jonathon,

I have also used the PC to Phone software, RemoteSMS and RemoteCall.  Both of these all me to connect to the phone and have no issues.  I do not have a server on my pc, but I can browse to the wireless printer on my network from the phone.  RemoteVNC, Remote VLC, Gmote, GRemote Server all connect between the PC and phone, but not the Pitchr.

I checked the subnet on the ipconfig, I have checked other things, and unless there is a port that I need to use to connect as part of the ip address, I cannot get the software to connect.

I am having the same issue.  I have tried with both my Nexus One and my Dev Phone.  I have tried to 2 laptops on one network and a 3rd laptop on another network.  Neither phone ever connects even though I can connect to the same laptops using gmote or other software via wifi.  Once the Pitchr & Catchr fail to connect.

My subnet is 255.255.255.0 and I have played around with all of my ip's to manually set them, auto set them, etc.  The phones and the laptops do not connect even when they Pitchr sees them correctly.

Jonathan, Todd and I were able to find and confirm a fix for this. It
only seems to fail on certain Android implementations. If anyone else
is experiencing this failure, send me a note - I have a temporary
build, available privately.

I'll be putting the new release on Android Market very soon - maybe
this weekend - I add another post to this thread when I know more.

I'm having this same problem, subnet is good, it's finding it, tried
manually entering. I'm running it on motorla droid 2.0.1

I was hoping to use this for 2 presentations I have on Monday and
Tuesday :)

Any chance the new build will be up or I could get a hold of that
private build?
