Alright, I am finally getting around to tinkering with the new EBS
persistence features on Scalr. However, I am a bit confused by the
choices. Here is what I would like as an end result:

Specify a Volume that is specific to a role. If that role is rebooted
it mounts the Volume to the mount point I determine.

The only options available in the Scalr interface are to create a new
empty volume or mount from a snapshot. I don't ever want to mount from
a snapshot as it will be old and my data stale. Why is there no option
to truly match an EBS Volume to a specific role?

When I think further about the way Scalr is programmed, I realize I
may be in the minority here. I am currently using a custom role that
will only ever have 1 instance running at any given time. I can see
the issue if Scalr were scaling these roles, obviously it can't mount
the volume because the volume is currently in use by another instance.

Therefore, can I put in for an additional feature to the EBS selector
that will allow you to bind a volume to a specific role if Scalr
detects that my settings are to only ever have 1 instance running.
(3rd radio button if Minimum and Maximum instances on the Scaling tab
are both 1).

Mike,this sounds reasonable.
To further expand this idea, we can allow you to to mount N EBS volumes to
1st instance in a role, M EBS volumes to 2nd etc.
Will look like a javascript widget.
Should be especially useful for the gluster or any other fs with striping
capabilities.

We can add the single instance mount option now and schedule extended one
for the future release.

Sounds great Alex. I think your idea will just add to the flexibility
and power offered by the Scalr system. Thanks for the quick response!

Bummer that Scalr doesn't use ExtJS -- I have a lot of experience
there and could help with the UI.

A second vote for this feature. I'd love to be able to bind a specific
EBS volume to a particular role.

Just signed up for the service over the weekend by the way, very
useful, very slick, much appreciated!
