Salut d'Ottawa!
Nous avons fait un meetup Scala en Ottawa le Mardi denier et c'etait un grand succes - 3 presentations et a peut pres 30 participants.
We ended up with talks on immutable state, a case study on a mobile app with a Scala backend and one on the best practices in Akka. Very cool stuff, and for the first one, very successful. No where near as established yet as the Montreal group - but we'll get there! :)
I was hoping that we could link the two groups a bit - share access to speakers as they come into town, see what works, etc... I love your idea of sharing code via GitHub for the group. For our event, we had Jamie Allen, Typesafe consultant, trainer and general Akka/Scala guru, show up and do a talk which was really cool.
I don't know if you were planning an event for November yet, but Jamie will be in Montreal for the training that Alex mentioned (
http://www.eventbrite.com/event/4210301124) on Nov 5-6 and could probably attend something on the evening of Nov 5th if people are up for it. He's a really interesting guy with a lot of experience with Scala and Akka.
Also - if anyone is interested in the FTTS course (it's a good complement to the coursera course), please let me know - we're trying to fill the course right now and we can offer a good rate.
Mike
