Hi everyone,

I read a thread from a couple of years back where people were listing companies that they knew were using Scala, which was this one:

  • BBC
  • ITV
  • PredictionIO
  • TimeOut
  • TheGuardian
  • UBS
  • BAML
  • Beamly (former Zeebox)
  • Optrak
  • Mind Candy
  • eBay

I thought it could be a good idea to see if any others have joined that list in the last 2 years or if any of the above are no longer using Scala.
Anyone knows any others?

Cheers,

Alex

Morgan Stanley now too. In many of these cases it's rather limited use but it is in use.

Hi Bryan

'It sucks really bad.' doesn't really help improve the site, why not make it more constructive.
Is it the website looks bad? Is an address incorrect or missing? What website are you using? etc that may help fix things

rant --

And I find it equally frustrating to hear HMRC self promotion when I'm
faced as a consumer with a dreadful product as I am with Netflix when
I'm listening to their amazing tech kudos, then browse the video
selection only to find nearly the entire movie catalogue is rated
below 30% on rotten tomatoes ;-)

Well.. I've got a couple of specific issues with the HMRC website.

The first, for PAYE is that it demands a *UK passport* or a P60 in
order to complete authentication, despite having established
credentials ages ago, and gone through the 2 factor authentication
with a phone text message already.

I was under the impression that Britain hadn't been kicked out of the
EU yet - so my non-native passport should be good enough - after all,
they've been happy to take my money for the last decade.

Second, the bit where the postcode lookup fails and you have to
manually enter an address (business, personal, whatever) - that stuff
is a complete mess. It just goes around in a circle - someone write a
Selenium test - please, please, please.

And then the stuff to file a support request ... that stuff is insane,
seems like they have to enter it straight into the (presumably Oracle)
database by hand.

I forwarded the email to our Programme managers and the passport point was raised to the Program Board just today ;)

For the other points there's a lot of stuff going on, new websites might get rolled off soon and improved.
