IMPORTANT. Twitter HQ has changed location, and is now at:
Twitter, Inc.
795 Folsom St., Suite 600
San Francisco, CA 94107
See the link for location information, or type the address in to
Google maps. The new offices are only a couple of blocks from the old
ones, a little further from Caltrain, a little closer to BART, and
right behind the Moscone center.
This month, we will have lightning talks (thanks to Dave Bricetti for
organizing these) followed by our main event, and some time for
socializing at the end of the meeting.
The lightning talks will be:
- Vlad Patryshev, “Implementing Small Categories in Scala”
- Dave Briccetti, BirdShow, a Lift Application That Shows Flickr
Photos
- Jorge Ortiz, “Some Java Wrappers”
The main talk will be on Griffon, a rapid application development
framework along the lines of Grails but for desktop applications.
Griffon is able to mix many JVM based languages for a multi-language
polyglot programming experience, and Scala is one of those peer
languages. Andres Almiray will talk about Griffon and in particular
the features that are of interest to Scala developers, including
mixing Scala with other languages.
Finally, I am delighted to announce that (for this month only unless
we can find a long term sponsor) we will have pizza and beer. Consider
it a holiday treat.
I look forward to seeing you all there on Monday 14th December at 7pm.
Please plan to arrive a little early, as you will need to sign in at
reception before attending the meeting.
