Wondering if we are going to have a meeting for Nov? and where it
would be?

Also what it takes to organize one ? I might be able to arrange early
next year.

Meeting announcement and details will be up here and on the Ning site
later today (will do it on the train home), however the date and time
will be 7pm next Monday (9th Nov) at LinkedIn in Mountain View.
Definitely on then, David Pollak will be talking about new
developments in Lift.

Cheers

Dick

A bit on a tangential topic.   I've just moved to the area and I'm not sure about the best transportation option for getting to and from LinkedIn for meetings.  I'm working near the Embarcadero and live in El Cerrito.  BART can get me between  El Cerrito and SF easily enough, but how 'bout to/from Mountain View?

Reply directly if you don't think the discussion would be too interesting to the list.

The walk from Caltrain to LinkedIn is a bit of a walk (about 3miles, I believe). It's not bad if you have a bike, but not everybody does (and taking a bike on Caltrain comes with its own problems).

Perhaps people who are driving to LinkedIn can volunteer to carpool people from the Caltrain station to LinkedIn? I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate it.

The old "Castro" Caltrain stop that used to be at Rengstorff Ave
hasn't been there for many years.
There are two stops in Mountain View: San Antonio and Mountain View
(downtown Mtn View, Castro St.).
I think walking from San Antonio is about 3 miles, from downtown Mtn
View it's 2.5 miles.
Probably a lot more than you want to walk.

From downtown Mtn View, you could take the #34 and #40

http://www.google.com/maps?action=log_trip&daddr=2029+Stierlin+Ct,+Mountain+View,+CA+94043&date=11/4/2009&f=d&ie=UTF8&saddr=Caltrain+Mountain+View&time=3:21pm&ttype=dep&dirflg=r

Or take Caltrain to San Antonio and take the #40 bus:
http://www.google.com/maps?action=log_trip&daddr=2029+Stierlin+Ct,+Mountain+View,+CA+94043&date=11/4/2009&f=d&ie=UTF8&saddr=Caltrain+Mountain+View&time=3:21pm&ttype=dep&dirflg=r

The reason to go to downtown Mtn View is that possibly you could take
a baby bullet train there which is faster. Less trains stop at San
Antonio.

I live next to you in Albany and I'm tentatively planning to go (and
drive). The kicker is that I would probably leave from Albany, not SF
(I work in SF, too, but I need to be back in the east bay prior to
heading down for kid/family stuff). If that works for you, though, I'd
be happy to take you door to door both ways, and if anyone else is in
the area (EC, Berkeley, etc) and maybe wanted a ride I could probably
handle it. I should know if I'm going for sure by Friday.

I believe Google maps will give you a pretty good suggestion regarding public transportation options (and the train schedule too).

If you can make it to the downtown Mountain View Caltrain station
(6:36pm), I can come pick you up (and drop you back at the station
after the meetup).
Got room for 3.

I worked at LinkedIn so it's not a problem to drive down there and back.

Email me if you're interested.
