The 'space is open Sat as usual.  Suite D now, around the side to the back.
Mondays are at the downtown SB library from 6-9 for now.

Hi Everyone,
Are you guys still doing meetings on Saturdays around noon? When is the next meeting or gathering that's open to new people like yours truly? For those who don't know me (which I assume is everyone save for Mr. Phillips), for now I'll just have you know that although I'm still a software newb I am serious (and excited) about expanding my development skills, and I look forward to meeting you all.

Regards,
Adam

Greetings Mr. Haas,

Yup, that's still the time.  There's a meeting tomorrow at the 'space.  We've just moved from Suite A to Suite D, but we're in the same building as before (map, video).

What kind of programming have you focused on thus far?  I think you were learning some PHP and possibly taking some (Java?) CS classes at SBCC?

Well, so far I've been taking the survey/general-skill-acquisition approach. I have been following your advice regarding taking classes from Strenn. Fall semester I took Intro to Data Structures with him and I just finished up with C Programming and Software Engineering w/UML. The other CS classes I've taken at SBCC are:
1. Computer Concepts (BASIC)
2. Programming Fundamentals (Pascal)
3. Java Programming
4. Html and Web-Mastering

The assignments in the data structures course and my software engineering project were all done in Java, so I would have to say that Java is definitely the language with which I have the most experience. That said, I want to learn Python. I'm signed up to take a Python class at SBCC next Fall in addition to an assembly language programming course. However, I'd really like to get started learning Python now with an eye toward Django webdev.

Nice!  Yes, Strenn is the man.

I'll be at the 'space tomorrow if you want to talk about getting started with Python.  Collectively we've definitely got more Python expertise than with any other programming language, with about 5 of us knowing it well.

I liked Strenn, as well.

I'll be showing my face this week to see the new suite. My wife took the baby out of town, so no family demands this weekend. Look forward to seeing you all.
Dr John
