Hi all,

Just to drop a quick note into say that we've just today launched a
new website using Satchmo as it's core with some little modifications.

The site is now up (DNS propagation willing) at http://www.toysrus.com.au

We've used a modified version of Satchmo 0.8.1 with some patches from
0.9

It's a great kit and now we're done we'll hopefully package up a few
mods that we can send back into the patch list.

Cheers
Andrew

Hi guys

Glad you like it. Got a few more of similar brand value coming down
the line soon too so will post when we have them done.

Something also to note that even though Satchmo is a mega project to
get your head around the Development team had this site from brief to
go live in about 4 weeks (including design, Interface, development,
back office integration and testing) so it's a testament to Django's
speed but also Satchmo's

Cheers
Andrew

Andrew,

That's a really amazing success story. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to seeing the other cool sites you'll be delivering.

Excellent.

Are you at liberty to reveal what they are using for inventory and
resource planning and the level of integration you did with Satchmo?

Thanks,
Chris Dukes

Awesome stuff Andrew!

Are you integrating with any backend mgt or inventory control tools
etc. Care to share your experiences? Thanks.

Hi guys,

So inventory is managed through a feed from a backoffice AS400 system
(which also goes back in as well in order to deal with financial
reporting etc). Logistics are handled via a feed to a distribution
partner.

I'll probably write all of this up as a case study as well as the real
power we got from Satchmo here was that we had a great off the shelf
toolkit which we could then customise and then divert effort away from
just producing "ecom related *stuff*" to actually integrating between
systems which makes it much better all round.

Cheers

I look forward to reading your case study.  We're turning over our developer release for my clients marketing site on the 8th (to launch around the 15th) and then launching the cart sometime around the 20th.  Pretty recognizable name so I can't wait to unveil it.  We'll be writing up some sort of case-study as well so I'm anxious to compare notes.  We're having to interface with SAP on the backend, its been "different" to say the least.  I do have a few things to work out yet, but thats for another thread.

Congratulations again.
