Welcome to the Saranac Synagogue!  We are the oldest nonaffiliated strictly Orthodox shul in Buffalo. We are outreach-oriented and welcome ba'alei teshuvah. Come and join us for Shabbos! You'll find it hard to leave.

We invite synagogue members and friends to join this group for schedules and other messages. Group membership is restricted to members, associates, and friends of the Saranac Synagogue. Membership is granted at the managers' discretion. We can only admit candidates who provide their true identity with their membership request. I can't deduce who you are from a pseudonym-based email address (e.g., tigerbalm@nussabop.com). I've had anonymous requests in the past, and after asking for follow-up they failed to respond. those requests were rejected.

Any member can post, simply by addressing the email to saranac@googlegroups.com. Your message will go to all group members. If you wish to have me proofread and edit your post, feel free to send it to my attention at geedavey (at) gmail (dot) com and david (dot) kunkel (at) ctg (dot) com. I'll look it over for capitalization, spelling, and grammar, and post it as soon as possible thereafter.

Suggested posting subjects: Inspirational essays, Torah, Halacha, Israeli or Jewish culture subjects, science supporting religion, religion supporting science, simchas, Saranac Synagogue events, Buffalo Jewish community events, requests for davening for the sick, minyan alerts, etc. Garage sales and the like will also be accepted, since we all love a garage sale!

Posts must be non-offensive, non-controversial, uplifting, and of a religious or Jewish community nature. Chain letters are strictly forbidden no matter what the subject. Politics; controversy; current events not pertaining directly to Saranac; gossip, complaints, and disparagement; off-color humor; and personal opinion posts are strongly discouraged. This is an Orthodox Shul and we are a diverse group. We welcome all Jews from all walks of life, so we must err on the side of caution in avoiding controversy, discord, or alienation. If--at their sole discretion--group administrators feel the line has been crossed, that user will have their subsequent posts screened before posting. There is another group, buffalojews, which is more appropriate for political and controversial subjects such as the pro-life vs. pro-choice and evolution vs. creation debates. If in doubt, send your post to me for a judgment call. If you have complaints or comments, please address them to the appropriate person in private.
