Hi group,

It appears that the Channel Mater 1004IFD signal meter used for the IBT is no linger made, and I can't find any, new or used.  I did find a New Eagle Aspen SSM-22 at a good price.  It looks like it should do the same, but it does have additional features - there is a 13 V, 22 kHz clock signal supplied by this device to the LNB.  Does anyone know what this is for?

In short, will this work with a Direct TV LNB?

Hi, this signal is used to switch the local oscilator of the LNB have a look here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-noise_block_downconverter

with a small dish, one LNB and a sat finder you can do radio astronomy

look at that : http://astro.u-strasbg.fr/~koppen/10GHz/simple.html

At Chabot Space & Science Center we are using this one http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000MTXFXS/

Cheap, and it works.

Not sure if you will be at the SARA Conference, we will have several Sat Finders modified for use with Skypipe.  Actually we are building 30 for StarQuest and what's left over will be available for $25.00 plus shipping. it works with DirecTV.  Let me know off list if you want more info.

Bob, we modify the WS International SF-99 sat finder to output a audio feed for Jim Sky’s SkyPipe.  The kit comes with modified sat finder, battery pack, audio cable, short RG59 cable and RG59 cable modified for the battery pack, compass and a case to hold everything.  $20.00 plus shipping.

I’ll be presenting the low cost IBT solution at the SARA Conference and also building 20 complete units for Star Quest a visual astronomy event (Star party) held at Green Bank just prior to the SARA conference.  Built 10 units last year and the participants at Star Quest were fighting over them.

Tom,

Can't make the conference this year, but would love to purchase one of the SAT-Finder units, if you have any left over. Can pay via PayPal or USPS Money Order, as you prefer. Please let me know. Thanks
for making these available!
