Santa Fe JIN News for December 2009:

Konnichiwa Members!

We all had a great time learning to make (and eating) okonomiyaki at
Shizuko's house at the November cooking class. Thanks you very much to
Shizuko for her expertise and hospitality. The November general
meeting was full of lively discussion and planning for the Matsuri
coming up March 13, 2010. Please make sure that if you have any
friends who would enjoy volunteering in any capacity, that you bring
their name, email and phone number to the next meeting so they can get
on our email list and be updated with volunteer news. We need all the
volunteers we can get!

Matsuri News:
Time to register and pay for booths! Please email Michael Smith
michaeli...@gmail.com if you want to have a booth at Matsuri.
They are selling out quickly.

Adverising in the program is nearly complete, there is room for only a
few more ads. Email Shizuko shi...@santafejapan.com if you or any one
you know wants to advertise in the program.

We are also collecting raffle items. Please let Rose Himrod know if
you have anything to donate, or know anyone who would like to donate
to the raffle. trhi...@aol.com.

It is time to nominate students for scholarship money. The application
will be available on our website in December. Email Catherine
catheri...@yahoo.com if you have any questions. Any JIN member can
nominate any student studying Japanese language or culture for a
scholarship. Applications will be due at the end of January,

We need as much newspaper---full size—as we can get for the school
projects. Bring whatever you have to the next general meeting. Iba
Fukuda has organized 60 classroom visits and every child will be
making an origami project.

REMINDER: all memberships renew in January. The rates will be
remaining the same: $35 for a family, $20 for a single, and $10 for a
student. Plan to bring your membership renewal to the New Year
Celebration or make sure to mail it in to
Santa Fe JIN
PO Box 28081
Santa Fe NM 87592
and include any changes to your phone number, address, or email
address.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

DECEMBER 6, SUNDAY 4pm General Meeting, Shizuko's house.

JANUARY 10, SUNDAY 3 pm is our New Year Celebration held at the
Tutorial School. This is a pot luck and includes Japanese Osechi
foods. Please email Shizuko shi...@santafejapan.com and let her know
what you want to bring, or find out what is needed. We will have a
short meeting at that time, and play bingo after eating. Please bring
any “prizes” for bingo you have. Also bring $1 for each game you want
to play, and the grand winner will win the cash.

This is Chado New Mexico's biggest fundraiser of the year, and lots of
fun, too! For directions, or if you wish to donate things for the
