Santa Fe JIN is a Japanese intercultural exchange group based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The name "Santa Fe JIN" has a double meaning. JIN means "person" in Japanese.Santa Fe JIN means a "person who lives in Santa Fe". JIN also stands for "Japanese Intercultural Network".
Santa Fe is the residence of many different artists from all over the world and is well known as a
beautiful city with a distinctive culture and art. Although interest in Asian culture in the Santa Fe community has been very high, there has never been a Japanese group in this city until now. Santa Fe JIN was born in March of 2004 and is a nonprofit organization.
The mission of Santa Fe JIN is to reach the community and share different aspects of Japanese culture by holding social events, community educational projects, cooking classes, monthly meetings, and the annual matsuri/festival. Santa Fe JIN will also act as a bridge for Japanese artists, educators and students visiting the Santa Fe area, and for students learning about Japan.
