Everything You Wanted to Know About the Higgs Boson, But Were Afraid to Ask
Presented by: Dr. Bruce Schumm (Physics, UCSC)
Who: Everyone!  Not just scientists!
When: Wednesday, May 29 at 7 pm
Where: Outdoor patio at
The Crepe Place (1134 Soquel Ave, Santa Cruz)

There's been a lot of buzz in the last few months about the Higgs Boson. To an effect proscribed only by time and his own wits, Dr. Bruce Schumm will attempt to convey the notion of the Higgs Boson, the nature of its discovery (and how certain we are that a) we have discovered something new; and b) what we have discovered is the Higgs Boson), and what directions for future inquiry this discovery inspires.

Dr. Schumm is a professor of Physics at UCSC and the author of Deep Down Things, a qualitative but deep description of the Standard Model of Particle Physics and its Higgs Boson, as well as the mathematical principles upon which these notions are based.
