Geeks,
I thought you would appreciate this… I just got off the line with my firm’s EVP, Facilities as I noticed an anomaly in how much power and space we had available in our 350K square foot datacenter in Suwanee, GA (30 minutes north of Atlanta) where our main NOC is located.
End of the day, this facility is built out to accommodate 500 – 1,000 watts per square foot. We’ve got 4,000 square feet available right now there and another 3,000 coming on line in a few months. And YES, the cooling is there to accommodate this density.
Think about this. Who else do you know with this kind of power density and this kind of space available?
If anyone you know is looking for this kind of power density, you now know who you can call!

Any idea how large of a solar field or how many wind turbines you would need to power a datacenter this large?
Anyone want to do the math?
20 Megawatts would take ______ square feet of solar panels or ______ wind turbines.

An acquaintance of mine at Digital Forest (Seattle) was advertising over
500 watts per square foot back in 2007. They've upgraded since then. I
don't know what their total square footage is though...
