Subject: Welcome New Geeks and Saturday Thoughts

Happy Saturday Geeks,

We've got a new member from a local tech startup Gridata -- Michael
Leppitsch. His intro:

"Um, I may not be geek enough, but I do startups in Santa Cruz. Wait - is
quant a category of geek? I might qualify then."

He certainly qualifies and I know he's often looking for talented geeks to
join his team. Welcome Michael -- I'm glad you finally found us ...

I know the "Geeks" are often mentioned around town, but not exactly
self-promoting. We are a saucy bunch of folks who like to chat about geeky
topics and ponder a brighter future. For those who may not be aware, we are
a growing community of close to 300. However, only about 10% those folks
post. But I will tell you that MANY more read each and every post. As we
approach election season, I'm wondering if any geeks would be interested in
hosting a chat with the new Santa Cruz City Council candidates? Personally,
I'd love a city council that was more informed, involved and responsive to
the tech community. Anyone game? Hit me up off list and see what we can
make happen.

Cheers, Margaret
