I'm going about setting an online class registration system for my workplace (local nonprofit, minimal resources) and have run into a hiccup where this wordpress plugin requires a php SOAP module or whatnot.  Looking into it my best guess is that'll I'll have to SSH into our user's account with our host and install this thing. Would anyone confirm that this move makes sense in the overall arch of what i'm trying to do?

Anyway, I call myself a 'sophisticated end user' rather than a geek because I know my knowledge has many limitations. I'm assuming this isn't something I'll need to do again - so I'm open outright help dropping the file in and issuing the command to start using it. But I can imagine I'll probably pick something up I'm bound to use again if continue to beat my head against the wall here… So, if I can get some reassurance about my guess above I will soldier on.

thanks for your time reading the above,
Jeremy

If you are on a shared web host and not on a dedicated server, you will need to ask your web host to install the PHP module for you. It isn't as simple as uploading a file.

Hi Gang ...

I have some tremendous opportunities for several Software Engineers /
Developers, QA Engineers, and more in our beautiful Santa Cruz area with a
company that is one of the fastest growing and most highly awarded
innovators globally in their marketplace, and ready to explode globally.

PLUS they want to hire local talent, and I want to share it with you all.

If you may not be interested in these roles, or they might not be a great
fit for you, but perhaps you have some friends and/or colleagues in your
network that you could refer, or share it with them by sending them
the information. They are career opportunity to stay local in one of the
best areas to live and work in the country (as we all know).

As I mentioned above, the company is one of the fastest growing and highly
awarded innovators globally in their marketplace. The positions are
available immediately.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing back.

Yours,

Johnny

well, uhoh. I was given to thinking this wouldn't be the case after reading their documentation here: http://wiki.dreamhost.com/PHP_5_install_script#Compiling_a_Customized_PHP_5 and all the warnings, etc therein. Now I'm thinking all this might be relevant only to their private server offerings… There's a menu where I can select PHP 5.2.x or 5.3.x, CGI or FastCGI - I'm seeing there (greyed out) is listed mod_php 5.2.x (requires Dreamhost PS).
Dang it. I didn't foresee this. discouraging… I'm probably going to set this aside for the rest of the evening

Thanks for your reply Jason,
Jeremy
