Hey Geeks,

The response time for this RFP closes in a few days -- May 24. And some of you may have seen this elsewhere -- just wanted to circulate it in case it is of interest to any geeks on the list.

Cheers, Margaret

Project Summary: The City of Santa Cruz Economic Development department is spearheading an effort to simplify the process of posting events to media and social media outlets, by developing an online hub which captures data from event producers, and feeds that data to local calendars.

The goal is for this event hub to save event producers time and offer local media outlets a richer data pool from which to curate their unique calendars.

Very interesting — was this previously socialized on this list? Does anyone know how the city typically publishes RFP's items like this?

Andrew,
I didn't hear of this until today. I'm not interested in bidding but I recommend that the city "do right" by local geeks and put this out officially to Geeks and NS and give two weeks time for folks to reply. IMHO. :) It doesn't help the city get bids, or feel fair, if only a few folks knew until 2 days before the due date. Perhaps I missed an announcement. If so, please forgive me. :)
Tx,
Sara

Hi folks,

Looks like this was posted on 5/8:

If you filter this page for "Economic Development" or for "Open Bids" you'll see the link:

It doesn't look like there's an RSS feed for the City of Santa Cruz "What's New/News Updates" page, so probably the best way to keep up to date with it is to bookmark the page and remember to look at it once in a while.

And yes it'd be nice if there was some acknowledgement that more people will see these things if local mailing lists are made use of. Then again, even that is no guarantee. You might be surprised how many people *aren't* on this mailing list. Rather than asking Crystal to spam everyone every time she has an RFP, I'd rather sign up for an "Open Bids" mailing list and get notified that way. I CC'd Crystal on this email in case she can help make that happen.
