~ San Antonio Tango Notices ~

Notices for the week from December  14, 2009 through December  20, 2009

Hola Tangueros,
Yeah, this issue is late, again. I guess I'm getting a bad attitude...

< WEDNESDAY (16 December): Calle Ocho Milonga CANCELLED!  So you didn't miss anything!

> FRIDAY (18 December): Uptown Milonga (Austin)  Go to item on this page

> SUNDAYS: New San Antonio Venue: Antigua Bar and Grill  Go to item on this page

> TUESDAY 22 December: Daniela's last SA class in 2009.  She'll be back in January 2010.  Go to item on this page

> WEDNESDAY 30 December: Milonga at Annie's (Austin) Co-hosted by Monica AND Laura!  Go to item on this page

> Houston Tango Festival: Registration is now open.  Go to item on this page

> El Tangauta magazine download: You can download your own PDF copy of the famous Tango magazine if you sign up. No charge, but I think my Tango-spam from Argentina has increased a little since I signed on; it's a little early to tell. This month's issue has Milena Plebs interviewing Chicho Frumboli. It's in both Spanish and English.  www.eltangauta.com

Austin There are a number of other things happening in Austin and nearby. Some I mention, some I don't. To see them all, check out the two Austin Tango Calendars in the "Handy Links" section below. You can also subscribe to the Austin Tango mailing list(s) from there.

Carpooling If any of you would like to carpool to some of the events outside San Antonio, join the San Antonio Tango Google Group ( groups.google.com/group/san-antonio-tango?hl=en), and post a message.

If you don't want to receive these notices, tell me and I'll take you off the list. If you want me to add or change an address, send it to me, or use the form on the web site. Please include a name. Also, the link to the subscription form on the site is given below: anyone wanting to subscribe can just go there and fill out the form.
Did I miss something or get something wrong? Let me know. If you have any doubts about an activity mentioned here, try to check first with the contact; I could have outdated or just plain wrong information.
Comments/Suggestions welcome: you can submit these anonymously (if you want) via the online form: Tangosa Comment/Suggestion Form.
If you would like me to include some Tango-related notice here, send it to me by Monday morning.

Milonga, WED. Dec. 30th!! Monica and I are going to be co-hosting a milonga at Annie's Cafe (downtown next door to the Elephant Room). For me, this will be a bit of a juggling act since I have class on Wed. However the idea is that we will trade off doing the free beginner lesson from 7PM- 7:30. After which I will race over to Khabele and teach. I will then return to help Monica for the last half of the milonga. This month only, I am going to cancel the Wed. night class on Dec. 30th so we can have a proper party!!
Looks as though this is intended to become a weekly event.

All the details about the festival can be found at www.houstontangofestival.com.
The theme for this year's festival is the Three Graces. According to ancient Greek mythology, these goddesses make celebrations special. They embody what we want to create for our festival - an atmosphere where beauty, joy and good cheer are present for all.
The Houston tango community's support, kindness and dedication have made this festival a success for the last two years and have inspired dancers from around the United States to travel to Houston. We would love your help in making the next Houston Tango Festival just as special.

Here is how you can join in creating a festival to remember:
1. Register: Early registration will save you money and help us plan the event. You can register here: www.houstontangofestival.com/registration.html.
2. Invite: Invite your tango friends from near and far. The festival is a celebration of tango in Houston and there is nothing like sharing your passion with friends. Here is the festival's invitation video with the theme of Three Graces: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JS4b55GNvh4.
