Namaste,

To search the archives, here is an option:
Go to the mailing list homepage at http://groups.google.com/group/samskrita/

In the top-right corner, you will find a search box. Type the word and click "Search this group".

Using a recent posting as an example, suppose you remember that you want to search for a subhashita that contains पीयते, you can type पीयते in unicode devanagari and see results. Not everyone uses devanagari in posts, so you may also want to search separately for "piyate" typed in English.

Thanks Nareshji for providing the efficient search engine. I tried it and found it useful.

It is my humble request to the members that evey one make use of this facility provided before starting a new topic so that duplication can be avoided. Today I searching in my inbox itself, I saw 4 threads already started with the same topic बुभुक्षितैर्व्याकरणं न भुज्यते.

This will help a lot of time of other members too, if the answer you are looking for is already available discussed earlier in the group, saving their time in replying the duplicate threads.

One can search any word also if one is willing to know more and only need to start a new thread if not already available. Different combinations of required words can be used to find exactly what one wants.

Hope this facility will be made use by every member to the utmost benefit.

Thanking once again

Respected Naresh ji,

Thanks a lot for creating the search engine. This has really saved my time and efforts to locate a particular thread.

This has made searching for a topic a lot easier and as Dr. Bhat ji has mentioned in his reply, there's an increased chance of avoiding repetition of subjects.

Regards,

Aniruddha Joshi

Thanks a lot for creating the search engine.

You can thank google - not me! I just pointed out an existing feature of our group.

Actually, you can search not only this group, but all groups of the
Google family for a keyword.

Friends,

In an announcement that comes up on my screen at least, Google tells
us that after August 30 the archives will be disabled. Isn't that so?
Or am I misreading the announcement? If it is the case, it would seem
we will lose lots of interesting and useful material from this group.

Are we considering any response to this? And I do not mean that anyone
should pester Google about it. Instead, I would hope that some
alternative archiving method might arise.

No, it's just the "zipped" versions that will be disabled, I believe most probably because so few people use "zipped" files anymore that there's not enough demand to warrant Google's continued support of that functionality.  (Correct me if I'm wrong and it's the archives as a whole -- at least from this end, it looks to be just the "zipped" files.)
