oja - a term for odd numbers?

I recently came across the word 'ओज' with meaning as above.  I read it as a Sanskrit term for 'odd numbers'.  Could members of the group please let me know about the 'significance' of odd numbers?  Is there a term for 'even numbers'?  (I have come across a series of odd numbers in चमकम् (1 to 33).  Also, this series is followed by multiples of 4 (4 to 48).)

Information, or, pointers to information, will be much appreciated.

It is very frequently used in prosody.

भत्रयमोजगतं गुरुणी चेद्युजि च नजौ ज्ययुतौ द्रुतमध्या ॥ २

ओजे तपरौ जरौ गुरुश्चेत्‌ । म्सौ ज्गौ भद्रविराड्भवेदनोजे । ४

आख्यानिकी तौ जगुरू गमोजे जतावनोजे जगुरू गुरुश्चेत्‌ । ६

etc.

You can also see the third example that the term used for even is अनोजे.

One of the meanings of सम is an even number.

One of the meanings of विषम is an odd number.

There would be several references foe this. Tulsidas calls Kaamadeva as बिषमसर (Prakrit for विषमशर) at one place since he has five arrows, which is an odd number. In one of my poems, I used the word समेतरेषु for Kaamadeva.

Mea culpa, it’s not बिषमसर (विषमशर)  but the word असमसर (Prakrit for असमशर)  that तुलसीदास has used for काम.  

 

One usage occurs in the श्रीरामचरितमानस

 

रंभादिक सुरनारि नबीना । सकल असमसर कला प्रबीना॥१.१२६.४॥

 

Another is in the गीतावली रामायण

 

अंजन-रञ्जित नैन चित चोरै चितवनि मुख-सोभापर वारौं अमित असमसर ॥  १.३४.३ ॥

 

In the context of numbers, both असम and विषम mean an odd number.
