Sriramodantam

Sriramodantam in Sanskrit is a condensed story of Rama based on Valmikiramayana.

This is in simple Sanskrit and was very popular in Kerala up to some 60 years

ago for beginners.   The author's name is said to be Parameswaran but there is

no confirmation on this.    

I got the entire kavyam from the internet in Malayalam script. I have converted the

Balakaandam into Devanagari script which I am giving in the attachment. I shall attempt to put the other kandams also one by one depending on the response of the learned members of the group.

I am giving the entire Sriramodantam in Devanagari script in the attachment.

It is of only 200 slokas against 24000 slokas of Vakmikiyamayanam without 

omitting any story.

I found a funny translation of the verse:

पुरा विश्रवसः पुत्रो रावणो नाम राक्षसः.

आसीदस्यानुजौ चास्तां कुम्भकर्णविभीषणौ .2.

विश्रवस् (M) → name of an RSI

अनुज (M) → brother

विश्रवसः → gene. sing. of विश्रवस् (M.)

आस्तां → imperf. 3. pers. dual of अस्

कुम्भकर्ण (M) → name, "clay pots ears"

विभीषण (M) → name, "horror"

अस्य → gene. इदम्

आसीदस्यानुजौ चास्तां → आसीद् अस्य अनुजौ च आस्ताम्

कुम्भकर्ण (M) → name, "clay pots ears"

Seems good, in literal meaning closely given.

The origin  was translated in Vietnamees, thank to Google translation tool. I got the above translation in English.
