So, for those of you who weren't there, and actually, even those of you who were (Sam has never been much for self promotion), let me tell you my understanding of what Sam's plans are over the next year (yes, it is a one year plan).

The plan, again from what I understand is that Sam will be releasing 5 digital EP's (5 songs each) and then a full digital album (so about every 2 months there will be something new). All of the "albums" will ultimately be available digitally to the general public, but for the next year, the only way to get them is to sign up at Sam's website. The cost will be $52 and right now it runs through Paypal (if you don't have a Paypal account, you can use a credit card there). The whole project is being called The Long Play, and for good reason. When all is said and done, there may be as many as 40 songs released. The plan calls for Sam to also release bonus material, with each release. I know I don't really need to sell this to any of you. It is a great project on her part and I can't wait to hear all the music.

Now... as for the music itself, it falls into three categories: Brand new songs, older songs that haven't been released (Like, probably "When You're Down") and older songs that she has rerecorded. Those of you at the show last night, probably heard most of the first EP. I have not seen the actual track list, but my understanding is that there are going to be at least 2 oldies that were given the Section Quartet treatment, included (Jill, Tom, I think you know what those songs are).

But there's more! :-) When you subscribe, you will join an online group, where you can watch exclusive video content, exclusive blogs (text, photo's, who knows what else) that document the year long process and a private social network filled with only Sam Phillips fans. :-) What else could you ask for? Right? I can't think of anything else either... Except for a tour. And hopefully that will all happen after this long year of writing is over. It is a fascinating experiment on her part.

So, all that is left is to give you the address to sign up. And here it is: http://samphillips.com/thelongplay/ . Sign up, log in and then say hi to those of us who are already there. Hope to see you all at SamPhillips.com . :-)

Oh yes, I'm now going to write up a bit about the concert... Hopefully before I fall asleep. :-) And as you read the review, think about which songs are new or unreleased or really old. The odds are, you are seeing what the first EP will be like.

OK, so I signed up using my credit card, but my receipt didn't include any log-in information. What do I do? Thanks in advance.

Matt,

After you pay, paypal should have sent you back to the web site. If not... I was going to say, contact the webmaster on the site, but I don't see a link. I will forward this on to someone who can get to them.

I think there was a link on the receipt, but there was no explicit instruction that you had to go back there to get the log-in, so I just printed the receipt and closed that window. I presumed -- wrongly -- that the log-in would come with a confirmation e-mail.

Thanks for your help, Bruce.
