We are just a little church, but we are trying to have an impact on our
part of the world. We are currently picking up Pizza from the McKinney Papa
John's on Wed and Sat. We will start picking up food from the McKinney
Chipotle (2811 Craig Drive, McKinney 75070) this week. They have really
good food that will help the Samaritan Inn tremendously - often 20 pounds
of chicken, pork , beef and rice.

We need to do this, because it is the right thing to do. I NEED several
parishioners to agree emphatically that this is true!

I am asking you, especially those near McKinney, to volunteer for a day.
Right now, Reader David handles Wednesday at Papa Johns, and Marina or I
goes on Saturday. adding Chipotle will be hard for us. I *can* do Monday at
Chipotle, but Wednesday and Friday are VERY hard for me, because of all day
commitments.

This is your call to arms!

Who will volunteer for Monday, Wednesday and *ESPECIALLY Friday *(Friday is
REAL hard for Marina and me, and we are the safety net  for any day)?

Here are the times we can go to the restaurant:

mon wed fri morning, 9:30-11:30am, 2-4pm, 730-10pm

Getting the stuff is no big deal. Everyone in the store knows about it.,
Get the stuff, which will be in strong plastic bags, sign a form they
provide, and then go to the Samaritan Inn, via the back door of the kitchen
(which is open), and bring it in. If nobody is in the kitchen, go to the
front desk to let somebody know you made a delivery. Then leave, knowing
you did a really good thing. we can deliver to Samaritan Inn any time.

BY THE WAY: If we ever get big enough and have kitchen and refrigeration
space, we can keep the food and serve it to the homeless and those in need.
Right now, we have no chance to do this, but perhaps the future will allow
is to do this.

We have not done so well in the volunteering area.

The only people that are willing to do this so far are the BUSIEST people
in the parish.
PLEASE GET INVOLVED!

Our BIGGEST need is FRIDAY! It will be VERY HARD for some of us who are
already involved in food pickup on other days to add this day. We need some
new blood!

The next biggest need is Monday. I can do it, but please read the Acts and
see that this is not the best way for a pastor to use his time in ministry.

Who will step up, volunteer, and keep a commitment?

This is alms-giving and charity at it's most basic - doing something that
is not flashy and even a bit boring, with no outward reward, because it is
the RIGHT THING TO DO.
