అయ్యా నేను విశాఖపట్నం రాస్తున్నాను,

నాకు ఓ ప్రోజెక్టు కోసమై తెలుగు  జానపద జగీతాలు, కళాకరుల గురించి వివరాలు కావలెను.

తెలుగు జానపదాల చరిత్ర, రకాలు, బాగోగులు, పలు కాలాలలో వాటి పరిస్థితి, ఇప్పటి స్థితి అలాగే కళాకారులెవరైన తెలిస్తే తెలుపగలరు.

శర్మ గారూ, మీ సలహా ప్రకారం ఆర్. వి ఎస్. సుందరం గారి ఆంచ్ర జానపద విజ్ఞానం చదువుతున్నాను.చాలా ఉపయోగకరంగా ఉంది. నా కార్యక్రమం ముఖ్య ఉద్దేశ్యం ఏమిటంటే. 

వేల యేండ్ల చరిత్ర ఉండి కోకొల్లలుగా ఉండెడి జానపద కళల్లో నేడు కేవలం కొన్ని మాత్రమే జీవించి ఉన్నయి. తీవ్రంగా శ్రమిస్తే మనుగడలో ఉన్న పాటలు దతదితరాలు 200 యేళ్ల లోపువి మాత్రమె లభించగలవు. మరోవైపు పాడి పంటలకు దూరమై పల్లెలే కనుమరుగైపోతున్నాయి. ఇలాంటి పరిస్థితులలో గ్రందస్థమైన, గాన రూపంలో ప్రచురితమైన వాటిని తిరిగి పల్లెలవైపు ప్రసరింపచేయాలి. తద్వారా మన తెలుగు వాళ్ల స్వాభిమానాన్ని, ఆత్మవిశ్వాసాన్ని పెంపొందిచగలుగుతాం, జానపద సంగీతాన్ని,  బ్రతికించినవాళ్ల మౌతాం. కళాకారుల్నిప్రోత్సహించినవాళ్లమౌతాం.
