Hi

Just for fun, I started a build on the ubuntu development release.

It goes:
...
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for a thread-safe mkdir -p... /bin/mkdir -p
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
checking build system type... Invalid configuration `x86_64-unknown-linux-': machine `x86_64-unknown-linux' not recognized
configure: error: /bin/bash ./config.sub x86_64-unknown-linux- failed
You do not have all of the prerequisites needed to build Sage
from source. See the errors above.
If you would like to try the build anyway (to help porting)
export the variable 'SAGE_PORT' to something non-empty.

Haha, did you happen to have PREREQ_OPTIONS set?

config.log (and presumably the first few lines you omitted) would be
interesting.

Hi

I don't seem to have that option sent. I did not set it manually.

I think you mean this?
~/src/sage-5.9/spkg/build/prereq-1.2/config.log

Jan

Where t** f*** does that come from?

Simply 'unset CC', and things should go fine...

P.S.: Wonder whether we should catch that:

# This also works if CC isn't set at all, but we could prepend
# [ -n "$CC" ] &&
# for clarity.

if ! command -v $CC >/dev/null; then
echo >&2 "Error: Your setting of CC (=$CC) is invalid."
exit 1
fi

(Probably similar for other env vars like CXX, CPP, LD, AS, FC, whatever
...)

Hi

That is a wrapper around gcc I use a lot. It has never caused problems before.
In this case, unsetting it the build seems to continue.

Jan

Clearly not on this system, since colorgcc doesn't exist.

Hi

Ah, it got removed with the system upgrade!

Anyway, without it Singular fails to find c++config.h.
I'm not sure it is worth pursuing as this is an Ubuntu development release.

Jan
