The first thing I noticed in the notebook is that it seems to leave a
trail of "Active Worksheets" tabs behind as I open and then Save and
Quit each notebook. Why does it do that?

This is not something new in 4.1.2. It has done that since long
before 4.1.1. The main reason is that hitting the back button in a
worksheet results in massive corruption. Once there is a feature to
force synchronization between the worksheet and the server, this "open
in a new tab" behavior can be removed.

How does opening a new tab prevent "massive corruption"? I never
noticed any massive corruption in the notebook in versions previous to
4.1.1 and I am pretty sure I did occasionally use the back button.
What is one supposed to do with all the old "Active Worksheets" tabs?
How do I even know which one is the "current" one? At this point it
seems awfully confusing to me. :-(
