As the tax to the Government has to go through the tax collector, our offerings to Iswara have also to go through the functional deities. It is this feature that distinguishes Vedic religion from other religions.

If a religion is to be popular and powerful, its followers should observe its tenets faithfully and well. It is not in numbers or in demonstrations that the vitality of a religion lies.

Bhoja has himself written a book on vimana or  aerial transport. This work has been printed in Baroda. It deals with all the secrets of aerial travel, but does not say how to construct a 'vimana' an aeroplane. It is not as if Bhoja did not know the techniques of constructing a 'vimana'. But this knowledge was kept secret, to safeguard against any possible misuse of the technique by evil-mindedpersons, with calamitous results.

'Mauna' is an important method of worshipping God. Mauna in this context does not mean merely silence. It is also the process of keeping the mind free of all thoughts. It implies that we should keep all our senses under perfect control, so that during the period of silence, the limbs may not move even involuntarily. Such a mauna will enable the divine spark, within every one of us, to become active in its progress towards the realization of the Paramatman.

The great men of the Hindu religion did not profess to uplift or save others by their teachings; they made themselves pure, and their precept and practice made for the spiritual education of those who came into contact with them. One who is not himself pure cannot teach others to be so.

While the initial impetus to any religion is given by its high-souled founder, its subsequent strength and popularity depend on the fervour, devotion, discipline and purity of succeeding religious heads and the fidelity and character of its followers.

The Ramayana instructs us in Karma, Bhakti and Jnana and in the Dharmic way of life...If we are anchored in Sri Rama and his supreme devotee, Sri Anjaneya, our mind will not be sullied by Kama or other passions, but will be disciplined to attain the Reality pointed out by the Vedas.

It is worth remembering that the country which has created the Sputnik is also getting the Mahabharata translated and that this great Indian epic is being taught in their schools, even though religion is not. It will not be a surprise if the Russians begin to read the Mahabharata with great enthusiasm.

Devotion is the only wealth of enduring value that we can acquire in this life. It is therefore necessary that we should not miss any opportunity to listen to the exposition of the 'Bhagavata' and the 'puranas', so that we may develop devotion.

The Ramayana teaches us that we should not swerve from the path of truth, and also presents to us the picture of an ideal son, a model brother, and an ideal wife, besides expounding several other principles of moral conduct.

As physical exercises strengthen the muscles by constant practice, likewise Mantras strengthen the internal nerves by constant repetition. In the process, the mind is cleansed, so that the residence of God within us becomes pure. Mantras can be studied and repeated beneficially and preserved only by those who are found fit for such study by their conduct and daily 'Anushthanas'.

The scientific thought of the present day progressively approximates to and supports the conclusion of Sri Sankara in the repudiation of the world of difference. This modern view will prepare the way for inculcating a sense of peace in the world. With the obliteration, through proper insight, of the sense of difference among the citizens of the world, among leaders of men and among administrators, the wise, the brave and the thoughtful men will no longer feel that others are different  from themselves. They will realize their oneness even with the men of enemy countries. Themselves afflicted by the afflictions of the people of those lands, they will prove to be the foundation for raising the edifice of world peace.

Parama Poojya Sri Paramaachaarya was the embodiment of the ancient vaidic wisdom..
he was a living, breathing, talking, walking seemingly human embodiment of aarsha gnyaana.

No wonder  Paramacharya was the torchbearer of Jagadguru AdiShankaracharya,
of our tangible recent times, we can look upto.

Adishankara most original creative contributor of Kali Age and Theological Integrator who consolidated   sanatana dhrama, debate was his battle field, reason his bow and words his arrows. His were the giant's shoulders on whom the subsequent traditions took prop and folurished.

A religion like ours whose strength is derived from the purity of the individual adherent, has no fears of decline. We require enthusiasm not to save others but to purify ourselves. If we purify ourselves through prayer, meditation and other forms of discipline, enjoyed by our religion, Love, that is God, will dwell in our hearts and direct our deeds. This will give us the enlightenment to realize the oneness of the seer and the seen. Living examples of such realized souls will help our religion to withstand all vicissitudes and promote universal welfare.

true indeed...dharmo rakshati rakshitaha: its about self correction, discipline and upliftment rather than headcount mustering and followership and network building for material gains and conquests.

Impurity gets attached to our mind during every waking moment of our life, as a result of bad thoughts, wrong desires and passions like anger. It behoves us to cleanse our minds also every day, so that impurity may not go on accumulating and cause us sorrow, sufferings and difficulties. The only water that can wash off mental impurity is the water of 'Dhyana' and meditation.

In order that each may do his part well, different duties have been prescribed for different persons. The anushthanas prescribed for one are neither superior nor inferior to those prescribed for another. Each person should do the anushthana prescribed for him, respecting and cooperating with the others, so that the collective efforts of all may result in the welfare of society  as a whole. The man doing devoutly the anushthana prescribed for him is the true soldier of Vedic religion.

The dowry system has not only created problems for the present but has also paved the way for the deterioration of society in the future. It is incumbent on the part of all those who wish well of our society, our culture and our Dharma, to take steps to put an end to dowry. When we have undergone sufferings and made enormous sacrifices for the freedom of our country, can we not make this small sacrifice of dowry, for the preservation of our Dharma?

There is a temple dedicated to Sri Annapoorneswari at Cherukunnam in Kerala. Every devotee who worships at that temple is served with food. The tradition is that in the night, after everyone is fed, a packet of food is left tied to the branch of a tree. The idea being that even the thief who prowls about in the night should not go without food.

Religions that do not adopt force and use money power have grown on the good conduct of their religious heads, preachers and propagators. For any religious heads, selfish thoughts and hatred should not be present;they must bear good character and possess the power of penance; they must be serene and compassionate. For our religion to grow stronger, we need to produce such leaders. We do not need to counter propaganda. We need religous leaders who live their lives according to our religious precept. Our religion has survived so many Yugas due to such persons.

The principle of economy is applicable in the case of speech, Unbridled tongue often leads to misunderstandings and troubles. If our speech is confined to topics spiritually beneficial to us, and if we avoid speaking words likely to cause pain to others, much of our troubles can be avoided. The same principle applies to our action too.

The lesson that we have to draw form all these forms of worship is that we should do our duty, placing the entire responsibility for our welfare on God. This is not a philosophy of inaction or idleness. It is a philosophy of action, with emphasis on the dedication of our action to God.

The tongue should be trained to utter the name of God constantly. What we think in our wakeful moments we see in our dreams. So also if the tongue is trained to utter God's name under all circumstances, it will automatically beseech God at the moment life departs from the body, when it will not be possible for the dying man to remember God consciously.

We require God's grace to get rid of our mental ailments. Our heart should be filled with love if we are to banish evils like lust, anger, hatred and greed from our heart. God resides in everybody's heart. But he is being pushed to the background by our selfishness and the various passions. By driving out those passions with the help of love, we will succeed in making our heart pure for God to reside there.
